NEW HAVEN – New Haven boys basketball Coach Tedaro France II had an emotional night Thursday in the Rockets’ regular-season finale.
With five seniors in the lineup, the Rockets raced past Anchor Bay 72-30 in a Macomb Area Conference crossover game.
It was a bitter sweet game watching are five seniors of Jamael Bell, Rico Cook, Rayshawn Griffin, Tedaro France III and Vantrell Williams play their last home game in our gym,” France said. “They have all been great examples of what a true student/athlete should be.
“I am honored and blessed to have been able to coach and mentor a group of exceptional young men.”
Griffin turned in a strong all-around game for the Rockets with 17 points, five assist and seven steals. Bell finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds, Cook added 12 points and Tedaro France III had 10.
Anchor Bay, which is 2-9 in the MAC Blue and 3-16 overall, is home today for a league makeup game against Madison Heights Madison.
The top-ranked Rockets (17-3) were coming off a double overtime setback at Marysville Tuesday. They also fell a game behind Mount Clemens in the MAC Gold Division race.
New Haven will set its sights on defending its Class C district title starting next week at Mount Clemens.
